Custom jewellery can be classified in a few different categories. Some might be simplier than the others but the ultimate goal is to create or order something that will suit your needs. Custom can be used so loosely that even changing some minor details of the piece make it "custom". Technically, it is custom but custom ordered and not custom designed. Here at McGrath Diamonds we take pride in every single piece we sell, we order and especially the ones I create. That enables us as a company to offer the client a range of options that not a lot of jewellery stores have. If we don't have it in stock, we can order it, if it is not available then we create it. We have a library full of supplier catalogues and supplier websites we go through to source a particular piece before going on to creating it for you. Our networks of suppliers is something we are truly proud of, most of which allow us to change minor details to accommodate your request.
We do carry a full range of designer samples that allow us to provide specific diamonds to fit a client's request. We have wedding bands that we can alter the width, thickness and gold combinations. All these are in our showcase to show you a sample product and for you to try on but tailor them to your specific needs when placing the order. We regularly custom order school, team and corporate rings and other products.
There's also the option to re-set your gems into new settings and custom order it to the specific dimensions you would need. Re-setting gems can be either a custom order or a custom design or a bit of both, either way we can accommodate you. We also alter different existing rings to make something edgier. I had the pleasure to do "collaborative" designs, what I mean by this is that I get to add to existing custom pieces that other designers made for my clients. It maybe just as simple as removing certain elements to fully altering the ring retaining certain elements that the client wants and adding my own style
True Custom Designs is something that I really take a lot of pride on. I get to be artistic and explore different new techniques to create new pieces. I even learned to carve wax moulds due to the specific need of a client wanting something very unique. It was something that I can't sketch anymore due to the complexity of the design. I needed a tri-dimensional model to make sure it fits prior to sending it to my goldsmith for estimate. Custom designs range from simple wedding band match up to really elaborate competition grade pieces I create for some of my very good clients. Creating these one of a kind pieces for clients gives me complete freedom to explore new things and suggest new techniques and more exotic gems. The custom pieces I create to sell in our showcase gets me to use really unique and exotic gems but at the same time I have to keep in mind that this is a piece that should appeal to a lot more people. The cost of my designs has to reflect the value of the piece and to show my artistic vision. Never compromising any elements to cut cost. I work with the best goldsmiths and casting houses I know and have been working with for years. This ensures consistent top quality all the way through.
